How direct evaporative cooling works
Cooler air in. Warm air out.
- 1Hot, dry air meets wetted mediaThe fan draws air across water-wetted cooling media. Evaporation absorbs heat from the air.
- 2Dry-bulb temperature fallsThe air becomes cooler and its moisture content rises. The incoming wet-bulb temperature sets the theoretical cooling limit.
- 3Fresh air needs a clear exit pathCooled air crosses the occupied zone; warm, moisture-laden air must leave through open doors, vents or mechanical exhaust.
Hot, dry conditions; factories, warehouses and workshops with open or well-ventilated airflow paths and targeted occupied zones.
High ambient humidity; sealed rooms; strict temperature or humidity set-points; moisture-sensitive processes; or poor outdoor-air quality without suitable filtration.
Direct evaporative cooling cannot cool below the entering air’s wet-bulb temperature. MaxCool checks climate, heat load, fresh-air entry, exhaust path and placement before recommending a solution.
